Academic Coordinator Major Responsibilities
The chapter academic relations liaison:
1. Acts as liaison to local colleges and universities and/or
the university’s academic advocate
2. Creates relationships with university and college contacts
a. Arranges meetings with appropriate professors, including
those in accounting, computer science,
business, information systems, management, etc.
b. Meets with accounting and/or information systems student
groups
3. Contacts professors and instructors to promote ISACA and
ITGI and forwards contact information to the director of academic relations
(research@isaca.org)
4. Uses materials provided by the director of academic relations
in giving presentations to students and professors on ISACA including
the Model Curriculum, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, COBIT and Val IT
5. Identifies and encourages academic advocates at local colleges
and universities. This person is the liaison at the university for ISACA.

Reporting Responsibilities
The academic relations liaison reports to the chapter president
and works closely with the chapter ’s treasurer and vice president.
Purpose
The academic relations program should serve to:
• Enhance the image of ISACA as a leader in IT governance, control
and assurance
• Introduce educators to the ISACA Model Curriculum
• Increase interaction between academia and practitioners
• Introduce educators/students to the CISA, CISM and CGEIT certification
programs
• Introduce educators/students to COBIT
• Increase awareness about the profession
• Increase/attract students to the profession
• Increase awareness and interest about IS audit, security, control
and IT governance research
